Obituary of Joan Theresa Johnston (nee Ramsay)

1931-2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, Joan at the age of 91. Born in Montréal to Mae and Allan Ramsay. Predeceased by her husband Donald and daughter Laura Dugal, two brothers Vincent (Bernice) and Allan. She is survived by her loving children Allan, Sue (Susan), Alyson (Alexis) and her cherished grandchildren Bethany, Louis-Philippe, Simone, Paige, Ava and Sadie.

Joan was a force of nature often described as fierce and fun loving - her strength of character got her through many difficult times, and she remained feisty to the end.

Special thanks to all the staff at Carlingwood Retirement Community who took such good care of her for the past 9 years. A Memorial Service will be held at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 11 a.m. For those who wish to join the service virtually you may do so by using this Service Link.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Breast Cancer Action Ottawa or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
