Obituary of Donald Lalonde

With great sadness we announce the passing of our father Donald Lalonde. He passed away peacefully in hospital on Wednesday August 9, 2023. Predeceased by his devoted wife Marie Lalonde nee (Mercer). He leaves behind his loving children, Katrina, (friend Rick) Stephanie (Mark) and Sylvain (Mari-Claude). Along with his grandchildren, Dakoda, Cooper, Kody, Pascal and Steve. Son of the late Ovila and Alice Lalonde nee (Lauzon). Don was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters, Claire, Laurier, Emiliose, Fidelia, Lemay, Donatien, Contrand, Jean-Marc, Fernande. Survived by Gaetan (Colombe), Guy (Muriel), Margolaine (Ronald), Carmen and Gilbert (Paul) as well as many Nieces and Nephews.

Don was a wonder to the medical field, outliving several life sentences they had given him over the years.

He was a hardworking man and owned his own general contracting business. He took pride in the work that he did, whether it was a small renovation or building a home from the ground up. He likely had his hands in your space at some point.

His favourite place on earth was at the cottage. This is where many of his best memories were made. The cottage gang were like family to him. We are grateful that he got to spend his last few days there.

He loved to laugh and had us doing just that in his final days. That would have made his tired heart happy. He was a warrior to the end.

We would like to give thanks to all the Doctors and Nurses at the Ottawa Hospital - Civic and General Campus, the Queensway Carleton and Pontiac (Shawville) hospitals.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm on Friday August 18, 2023, at the Cole Funeral Services. 2500 Baseline Rd, Ottawa, ON K2C 3H9

In lieu of flowers we ask that you consider making a donation in Don’s memory to The War Amps of Canada, The Canadian Cancer Society or DIFD Youth Mental Health.
