Obituary of Robert (Bob) Edward Booth
Passed away on August 18, 2023, at 78 years of age. Beloved husband of Carol Ann Booth (Burchill) for 56 years. Loving father of Stephen (Kalli) Booth and Andrew Booth. Cherished grandfather of Connor Booth and Reghan Booth. Brother of Barbara Booth and Brian Booth.
Bob grew up in Ottawa hunting and fishing with his Uncle Ed at the family cottage in Constance Bay and restored his first Model A at 16. He attended the Ontario Forest Technical Training School in Dorset, Ontario to turn his love of the outdoors into a career. He graduated top of his class. He worked at the Forest Products Lab on Montreal Road until his disdain for government bureaucracy and his love of classic cars saw him open Booth Auto Restoration in 1975. From that point forward Bob built his life around Booth Auto Restoration, the cars, and the people he worked with. He built relationships with many on long road trips to find cars throughout the US and Canada, sometimes in vehicles of dubious mechanical quality. He was a highly skilled craftsman, artisan and historian fashioning hot rods and full restorations from what most would consider scrap parts. Bob could see the corner of some rusting car in the woods and immediately know the make, model, year, and most critically the potential value! There are few people on earth who, like Bob, turn their passion into a career and truly love each day working. Bob did take time away for family trips, hunting, and fishing but he was always figuring when he could get back to the shop and the work he loved.
