Bob was a dear friend Bob, with whom I shared workspace in Ottawa at AECL for two full years from 1966 - 1968, and I loved every minute of it.
It was a lasting relationship, as we had a further encounter when Bob and Peggy came for a visit to Vancouver many years later.
I just remember that he was a huge fan of Volvo cars, and at one time we did a sales trip together from Ottawa, driving in his Volvo all the way down to New York City stopping at the numerous Atomic Energy customers along the route, mostly top universities and research centres along the way down through New England.
I think we were travelling together for at least 2-weeks and it was a lot of fun, but also a great learning experience for me, being the new guy on the team at the time.
And I certainly got to know all about Volvos. That is a lovely photo of Bob peeling a tangerine! Perfect

I have only now just heard of Bob’s passing, and I send my deepest sympathies. Bob and Peggy were lovely friends and neighbours on Buckshot Lake, especially to my late father, Cliff Cooke. I have such fond memories of laughs around dinners, drinks, Cottage Association discussions, and I still enjoy Peggy’s delicious Beef Stroganoff recipe! Butterball Lane remains, as do memories of the kindness, generosity, wit, and friendship of both Bob and Peggy. Liz Cooke

We met Bob in about 2003, shortly after we came to Buckshot Lake. Sue served with Bob on the Lake association for several years, and he was always very involved with the activities around and issues affecting the lake. We recall his friendly competitive participation in games at the Lake Jamborees, especially those serious horseshoe matches.
We always enjoyed our talks about the history of the lake and the many travel adventures that he and Peggy took.
He will be truly missed by his many friends on Buckshot Lake.

We have lost a great and long time friend. So many memories have been flooding through our minds since he got sick & passed.
Our first year here we had one of the few knocks on our front door and it was a man who said he was trying to get get in but there was a a very large tree across the road. I didn't know dad well but I did know he had a chainsaw and he was good at using it. Him and I went to see the tree. It was very large indeed, and he expertly cut it up and I was young enough then to be able to roll the pieces off the roadway. Every time I pass that spot, and see the tree, I remember him this day.
We remember many get togethers & meals with your mom & dad. They always had a happy hour before hand and your dad was so meticulous to cut a perfect wedge of lime for our G&Ts every time. He always had a smile on his face & a warm greeting every time we met. One special memory is when they came over in the morning and we all went down on the dock and had coffee and Baileys. Dad always loved the cottager association's AGM where he would meet his friends and hash over old times. We also loved how he would come back here for a J. R. after those meetings and we would catch up. He was a good negotiator. When he got his implant he was not allowed to use his beloved chainsaw anymore. He so graciously gave me the chainsaw (his pride & joy) and all his safety equipment with it. It came with a stipulation though, that I was to cut down the smaller trees in in front of his cottage that blocked their view. He was a superb neighbour; kind, thoughtful, & very respectful. Your mom would get flustered at times and dad would very patiently & calmly assure her all was right..
To us, his passing was the end of an 'era'.
