Mark and I crossed paths for years at places that we both loved & spent a lot of time at - hockey arenas and live music jams . We discovered we had many people and music in common, would talk music for hours, and eventually we jammed together at some of these after hours musical extravaganzas. Great Rock'n'Roll memories .
Mark was positively motivational for the local musical community, and continually inclusive and supportive for all who play & love music. We will have to step up to do the same in his absence.
Monique and I went to Joe Walsh / Eagles, and the Laurence Gowan concerts with Mark last year and had such a great time, and always count on seeing him at so many great concerts just about every weekend after that, and we still expect to see him at any of the upcoming cool shows.
He is deeply missed , we will surely carry him in our thoughts as the music flows.

My deepest condolences to the entire Hughes family. May all your memories of Mark soothe the grief you feel. I had lunch with Mark several years ago while on a visit back to Ottawa. We reminisced about the Bowhill Ave days and the fun/ funny memories of neighborhood and band scene antics of the early 1980s. We also had a deep conversation about the life altering joy we experienced being parents (our kids are the same age) as well as a good chat about our love for England. He was always incredibly kind-hearted and generous in all our interactions throughout the years as teens and beyond. I’ll always remember Mark as the guy with the biggest heart and sweetest smile.

We could always count on Mark to be at all the good concerts over the decades. We literally rocked out with him at Nostalgia Fest hours before his untimely passing. We will miss him dearly. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends. May God bless you all!

To the entire Hughes Family,
My heartfelt condolences, on behalf of myself and my late husband Ricky, who grew up on Bowhill with Mark and had told me stories of guitar playing etc. My father passed away the end of January 2022, and Mark reached out saying if I needed any help to not hesitate to call him. Mark found a loving home for my dad's cat as I was unable to take her.
Mark you were given your angel wings too soon, I am sure you are already putting together a band up there...

When my cousin Mark was in the UK in 2019 he enthusiastically joined me on a hunt around Portsmouth to find where our Griffiths great-grandparents lived in 1911. We found 133 Telegraph Road, Southsea and a local resident took this photo of us. It will be so poignant to go back to Portsmouth in a few weeks. I knew Mark as family but seeing all the tributes on social media from friends and as a musician shows how many people's lives he touched and is both heart-warming and so sad. Sending my love and condolences to Matt, Grahame, Debbie and Bill.

Mark certainly touched many lives. He had a very warm, empathetic side. He loved family and was very sentimental. This picture was up on the video tribute. I will get a copy of the pics for you. See you next week. Greg is going with Grahame and all plans will stay the same. xo

My sincere condolences to Mark's family over his sudden and unexpected passing. I got to know Mark through his music and become an Incurable Rocker! My favourite memory about Mark is how he was a huge fan of The Green Lantern comic book superhero. When he was playing in Max40 he told me he bought this baseball style jersey with The Green Lantern name and logo on the back, "But don't tell anyone! It's a surprise!" He loved The Green Lantern and that jersey. When he started Incurable Rocker, I asked him on the Facebook group, "Will The Green Lantern be at the show?" Mark replied, "Yes, there will be a guest appearance by The Green Lantern!" I imagine Mark somewhere in the after life wearing The Green Lantern jersey and his bass guitar with a big smile! That's how I will always remember Mark!

Here's a photo of the family on the last occasion I saw you, Mark. Thank you for your kindness in driving me to Portsmouth for the scattering of Mike's ashes, and before that, for your company when Em & I came to Canada a few years after John's death, when we spent time together visiting the exhibitions, listening to you play & sing 'Stairway to Heaven' in your home, and watching Em for the horse ride you arranged for her, and more. You'll never be forgotten over this side of the pond. There'll be a real candle burning here for your memorial service tomorrow.

Oh Mark. I have a particular favourite memory I wanted to share. When visiting Canada, aged 14, I remember you throwing me over your shoulder & running around Graham's garden! This memory still makes me smile. Keep playing that guitar & having fun wherever you are now.

I met Mark over 40 years ago when he played with Certified. A very kind warm hearted sole, a gentle bear whom i've never seen get mad or speak ill of anyone. Then he went to algonquin college and i met him in my IT career. He was well thought of in IT and respected for his knowledge and calm approach.
I will miss you bud and think of you every band i see. "To live in the hearts of others is to never die". Rock on!!

I met Mark through Greg and the Incurables’ band. Unfortunately I didn’t get to know him extremely well but what I did know was that he was a very welcoming person and made me feel at ease from the very first moment I met him. He had charisma and a good laugh.
I would like to offer his family and friends my deepest sympathies. His departure from this world will leave a big gaping hole in many’s life. May his journey be his most awesome dream, playing music in front of a large adoring crowd! Rock on Mark! Rock on!
