Obituary of Ronald Tomosk

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Ronald Tomosk on Monday, October 16, 2023 at the age of 77 years in Ottawa, Ontario following a long illness. Ron was born on December 9, 1945 in Toronto, Ontario to immigrant parents from Ukraine. A graduate of University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Psychology, he then completed a Bachelor of Law from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1970, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1972. He practised law in Ottawa, Ontario for 44 years and volunteered his legal expertise to assisting families with special needs children, in addition to the Ukrainian Canadian Professional and Business Association of Ottawa and the Ottawa Duck Club. He was the recipient of the REACH Canada Volunteer Lawyer of the Year award for 2005.

Beloved son of Walter (deceased 1997) and Anne Tomosk (deceased 1968) (née Boyko). Cherished husband of Maureen Tomosk (née Helmsley) and proud father of Jonathan (deceased 1998) and Steven (Katharina). Dear brother of Mary August (Donald) and uncle of Jennifer (Andras), Stephanie (John), and Jamie. Brother-in-law of Deidre (deceased 1994) Hooper (Tom). Great uncle to Karina, Tessa, Evan, and Elea. Remembered by cousins Linda (Gary) and Karin (Larry).

Outside of his profession, Ron cherished outdoor pursuits such as cycling, walking, gardening, and spending time at his beloved cabin and woodlot. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario. All are welcome.
