Obituary of Jean Wright

Born in Saintfield, County Down, Northern Ireland, on June 25, 1925.  She passed away peacefully on November 19, 2023 in Ottawa at the age of 98 years, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Caroline Simpson.

She will be greatly missed by her surviving children Carol Thomas, John Thomas (Karen) and Nadine Kittle (Dave). Grandmother to Adrian Fawcett, Natasha and Joshua Qumuatuq-Thomas, Great Grandmother to 8 great grandchildren. She will be missed by her many nieces and their families and we are grateful for their support over the years.

Preceded in death by her second husband Jack Wright, her daughter Sharon Fawcett, brothers and sisters Lily, Sam, Daisy, James, Frieda, and her beloved nieces Janine, Caroline and Judy.

In 98 years she lived a full life of love and laughter.  At 16 she worked in England and Belfast factories supporting the war effort during WW2.  She met her first husband Ray Thomas in Belfast at 21 and immigrated to Canada in 1947 on her own.  She made a home with her family in Stittsville for 30 years.  She was remarried to Jack Wright and they moved to Markham closer to her sisters.  Her family was her biggest joy, she always had a big smile, twinkle in her eye and a funny quip for everyone.

A Service will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 2:00 pm at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 2 Mulkins Street, Stittsville.  Family and friends are welcome to attend with a small reception afterwards.
