Obituary of Vincenzo Macri

Born July 16, 1930, he passed away on Monday, November 27^th, 2023, at the age of 93.  Predeceased by his beloved wife Paola (née Cianci).  Loving father of Rosa, Giovanni (Marie-Chantale) and Tony (Carol-Ann).  Proud Nonno of Olivia, Noah and Amanda.  He will be missed by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. 

Born in Fiumara, Italy, Vincenzo immigrated to Canada in 1951 and married Paola in 1957. He was a strong and quiet man who worked very hard to support his growing family.  While not a fan of sports in general, he was a hardcore WWE fanatic.  After his retirement, Vincenzo and Paola spent many winters vacationing in Florida – he also became an avid swimmer and a competitive lawn bowler all year round.  Later in life, a gentler side of Vincenzo emerged – enjoying the company of his grandchildren, as well as providing many years of care to his ailing wife.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute for their many years of care that contributed greatly to his long and healthy life, as well as Dr. Rokaiya Huq and the staff of the Queensway Carleton Hospital for the compassionate care they provided during his final weeks.

Family will receive friends at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, on Sunday, December 3^rd from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM and Monday December 4^th from 10:00AM until service time in the Pinecrest Chapel at 11:00 AM.  Interment and reception to follow.  For those who wish, memorial donations can be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation.
