Obituary of Placida Lucia Corzato (nee Dalla Pozza)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Placida Lucia Corzato on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, peacefully surrounded by her family. Loving wife of the late Marino Giacomo Corzato. Mother of Claudia (Doug), Marita (Pino), Loris and Victor (Lisa). Proud Nonna of Chris, Bobby, Juliana, Natasha, Sonia, Amanda, L. James, Jesse, Miranda, Anastasia, Bridget, Jackson, Sierra and Alina and great-grandmother of eleven. Sister of Ida, late Giuliana, late Olga and Giuseppina.

Placida was born in Grumale, Provincia di Vicenza, Veneto, Italia to parents Giuseppe Dalla Pozza and Gemma Cora. She was the oldest of five daughters. She wed on November 4, 1954 and immigrated to Canada in 1956 with her firstborn to join her husband who had traveled before her to settle in Ottawa, Ontario. 

Placida was a passionate homemaker, crafter and gardener who brought many skills with her from the old country. She was known for her amazing cooking and baking, and rarely followed a recipe. Placida was fussy and her house had to be clean, tidy and organized - she made sure everyone had a job to do. She loved the bountiful garden she and Marino took great pride and pleasure growing every year for 60 years, all at the same house. She loved her sewing machine and worked as a seamstress while raising her family. She was an expert knitter, needles and yarn always at the ready.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa.
