Obituary of Roy Lin

LIN, Roy Yung Sung

9 May 1943 - 6 January 2024

Roy of Ottawa passed away in the presence of loving family and friends. Roy was born in Tianjin, China. He was the son of the late Dr. Larry Lin and the late Dr. Marie Feng. Roy grew up in Hong Kong.  He attended Laurentian High School in Ottawa and was a computer science graduate from Algonquin College. He worked until his retirement in system support for the Supply and Services Department of the federal government. Roy was an avid photographer. He appreciated art and music and loved cooking and dancing.  

Roy was an exceptionally generous, mindful and humourous man who said he felt blessed for the good life he lived and for the wonderful family and friends who were likewise blessed to have him in their lives.  He was inspirational, supportive, a partner, brother, uncle and friend.

Predeceased by brother Gerry and survived by partner Judy, her son Mark (Linna) and her grandchildren (Ethan and Jenna), sisters Sylvia (Sharalyn), Juliet, Harriette (Eddy), nephews Kevin (Alyssa), Daryl, Jeffrey (Terri), Jordan; nieces Michelle, Katherine, Sharon (Robin), Julie (Kevin), Sandra (Mark), Christina (Mike), Jessica (Evan), Misia; and grand nephews Deklan, Gabriel, Jeffrey, Jack, Christopher, Thomas, Nick, Matt, Zac, Bennett, Cameron, Tyson; grand nieces Olivia (L), Marbella, Julia, Laura, Olivia (H), Audrey, Anne, Emilie, Lauren, Hailey, Sloane, Piper, Reese; great grand nephew Raiden and great grand niece Tori.  He will be missed by lifelong friends Chuck (Verna) Wendt, Gordon Laycraft, Francois Beland, and Gabriel (Chinta) Perreta.

A celebration of his life is planned for May 25, 2024, from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm at the Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, K2C 3H9.
