Susan McDonald

Obituary of Susan Mary Elizabeth McDonald

Gerry called, Sue’s heart heard and followed. They are reunited again after only 9 months apart. Sue passed away peacefully, with family by her side on Sunday, March 3rd, 2024 at the age of 81.  She leaves behind her children Brent (Karen), Steve and Melanie (Greg MacEwen) and grandchildren Jonathan, Michael, Kathleen, Felicity, Chris, Maddie, William, and Mallory. She was the great grandmother of five.  Predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Helen Monette as well as her sister Lorraine and her brother Peter.  She is survived by her brother Danny Monette (Linda).

Mom had a green thumb which she inherited from her grandmother Roxie Hamilton. Her beautiful  garden’s surrounded our family home every year.  She was also a great cook (she had to be to make Gerry’s tastebuds happy). For many years Sue invested her time as a volunteer at CHEO selling merchandise before their yearly telethon and for the Liberal Party of Canada.

Visitation will be held at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Thursday, March 7th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  The funeral service will be held in the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel on Friday, March 8th at 2:00pm.   Special thanks to the staff of Barrhaven Manor, Violet, Rejean and Mary Rose who cared for Sue,  providing her with compassion and dignity in her final days.  For those wishing, donations may be made to the CHEO Foundation .
