I was fortunate to be a co-worker and friend of Peter at the Geological Survey. He was somewhat of a mentor in my earlier days though we worked in different areas, certainly a confidante, and a wonderful friend. And obviously a great family man: to his lovely and creative wife, Mary, and three marvelous daughters, Kelly, Leslie, Tracey -- my heartfelt sympathy. He was such a good man!

I knew Mr. McGrath from visiting Leslie at home during high school. I cannot recall a single time he was anything but calm, kind and welcoming. It's difficult to know in the moment how another's way of being might be inspiring; indeed I couldn't have known then that Pete's manner had a surprisingly profound impact in shaping my notion that to be a man, father, husband can be this gentle and spacious. Sending you all a warm hug. In gratitude and with condolences, Andrew Johnson

to Peter's family. Peter was a big guy to me when we lived in Sarnia. Our fathers were childhood friends and Jeanette and my sister Becky best friends. You have my sincere condolences at this sad time.
