Obituary of Anita Dewar
Peacefully, among family and friends, in the care at the Ottawa Grace Manor.
Anita was born in Douglas, Ontario to Lillian (McEachen) and Arnold O'Neill, the youngest of 6. Predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Harry Dewar (2015). Anita will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debbie (Richard Monk) and John (Gina Grosenick), her 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by the Dewar and O'Neill families, her McEachen cousins, her special nursing colleagues and her walking partner.
Anita was a dedicated nurse with a career spanning over 30 years, mostly in psychiatry at the Royal Ottawa Hospital, where she was a leader and mentor. She lived in Kanata for 50 years, was a keen bridge player, an avid walker and loved a toasted tomato sandwich and a vanilla cone. Her greatest challenges came as a result of her deteriorating vision (R.P.), coinciding with Covid. She was well supported during Covid by Dr. Elizabeth Westley. Special thanks to the dedicated and very caring staff at the Ottawa Grace Manor.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 29 at 10:00 a.m. at the Grace Manor, 1156 Wellington St. W, Ottawa, Ontario. If you wish to make a donation in Anita's memory, please consider The Salvation Army Grace Manor or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at colefuneralservices.com.
