Obituary of John Goodanetz

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Queensway Carleton Hospital on October 4th, 2023. John Goodanetz, in his 82nd year, was the beloved husband and best friend of Julie Goodanetz for over 50 years. He was the loving father of Sonya (Andrew Roy) and the late Kriss Goodanetz, cherished Grandpa of Eva and Patrick Roy, dear son of the late Adolph and Eva Goodanetz, and dear brother of Mary Liisa and the late Katherine Elizabeth of Toronto. He was also the brother-in-law to both Neil Krause of Abbottsford, British Columbia, and Patty Murphy of Salt Lake City, Utah. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, John achieved a master’s degree in electrical engineering. He then moved to Seattle to start his profession, later relocating to Los Angeles where he met Julie, finally settling in Ottawa.  John’s career spanned aerospace, aviation, telecommunications, anti-counterfeiting, and the financial services industry. John’s passions included history, film, and globe-trotting travel with family and close friends. 

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 12 at 1:00 pm at Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa.
